Crochet-Along: Cowl... FINISHED!

Well... I finished it! :)

When I started working on this project, I had no idea what a cowl was for. I thought it was just decorative. I didn't know how it was supposed to keep you warm because it pretty much just covers your neck. As I was taking pictures earlier... I was sweating! So yeah, it does keep you warm. Hot, if you're in the Pacific. In spite of the cold weather brought by the two typhoons that hit us recently, it's still too hot for scarves and cowls. I still like it though. And I can use it inside the office, where, for some reason, it gets unbearably cold sometimes. Yes... inside. Or maybe give it to my sister... she has been asking for it since she saw me making it. We'll see.

Oh and um... in case you noticed... yep, I was a big Titanic, the movie, fan. And I will not be lying when I saw I must have seen it around 30 times already.

Go ahead, laugh... gag... and pity my husband (he complains everytime he sees me watching it AGAIN) ;)

I adore the COLORS, Janelle. I immediately thought of a use for the cowl as you said: the office! And on a plane (you WILL fly somewhere)! Brrrrr!

On my blog: yes, the little gal's precious!

Can't wait till the three of us-- Diane included-- can finally meet. And remember my National Children's Hospital project? The wheels are already turning for small felt angels. What do you think?

I'll keep in touch! Unpacking STILL, but we will get together soon!

Love this colourful cowl! Hope you get to use it one day! I agree with Kelley - perfect for on a plane - they turn the temperature way down sometimes!!

Beautiful, Janelle! I agree with Kelley and Jill--the colors are fantastic! It will be so nice to wear in the winter when everything is dark and gloomy . . . you'll be like a beacon of beautiful color in your cowl, if you ever wear it, that is ;-) You did such a great job, and thanks so much for participating!

Oooooh, you have one of those necklaces... I can't remember for the life of me what they called it... The gem of the sea?? Lol, no, I know that's not right. Oh well, I haven't seen Titanic as many times as you have so forgive me for forgetting. :0)

Love the cowl, pretty colors! And you are so right when you say that thing keeps the neck WARM!

I agree that acrylic is too hot for the Philippines. If you ever want to make a cowl again, try using any of the cotton crochet yarns. they are really thin, but if you crochet 2 strands at the same time, they work well with a 3,5mm crochet hook which are readily available here. Using 2 strands also means you can play around with the colour: you can start for instance with 2 blue strands then do some row with a green and blue strand and then use 2 green strands.I once crocheted potholders with al my leftovers using 5 strands of different coloured yarn, and the effect was pretty cool!

Great job! I love the colors in your cowl. It looks good on you! I need to make me one of these. Here in Utah it is getting quite chilly.
