Grandpa & Grandma Chocolate Rabbit were getting bored with retirement and decided to open a breakfast cafe: the Sylvanian Families Pancake House.
Grandpa Chocolate is the chef.

My last post was more than a year ago?? Really???
It only felt like a few months a when I scheduled a blog post for automatic posting.
I haven't had a lot of free time (obviously!) this year. I was able to finish a few projects though. Like this mermaid tail blanket.
I made it for a 2-year old girl so it should fit ok. I only looks small Janellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05196167452204951169noreply@blogger.com40tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846516460050935130.post-41853126481950308982015-10-22T19:21:00.000+08:002015-10-22T19:21:04.436+08:00Lambie, the Lalylala Lamb
Have you heard about Lalylala by Lydia Tresselt? This site has the cutest amigurumi crochet patterns!
I bought her Lupo the Lamb pattern from Lalylala's Ravelry store last year but never had the chance to make it until now. I initially wanted to make this to give as a gift for one of my nieces this Christmas but the little girl at home saw it and begged and begged to let her have it so..Janellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05196167452204951169noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846516460050935130.post-26992962641538285492015-10-12T18:00:00.000+08:002015-10-12T18:00:00.215+08:00Once Upon a DreamI am too lazy to check if I already used this title in a previous post. However, since this post is about princesses (since you know, I am raising one... at least one that feels she is one), I thought the title fitting.

So you know all those time I spent not blogging? Most of that time was spent being a responsible adult... you know, working and caring for the family. But all that time, I had dreams of time... spare time to be able to do the things I love, and right now that's crochet. And I wanted to be ready for when the time comes so I bought and bought and bought supplies... until...
My dragon hoard.

But when I finished it... um... well... I already used it today so I guess it's mine now :)
This project is actually part upcycle. The bag is crocheted using thick cotton cord and the handles are from an old bag I am using as a make-up kit, so you know, it doesn't really need a handle.

I need not say that Rapunzel was the princess of choice in our household for a few weeks. It changes based on which movie the Disney channel is showing at the time.

My daughter brought these for her teachers today:
I made crochet covers for the mason jars and filled it with sweet treats. It may seem like a quick project but errr... those covers actually took a few hours.
It feels so good to be able to post something after a very long hiatus... and before another very long hiatus, I Janellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05196167452204951169noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846516460050935130.post-46204856739767872002015-02-02T17:40:00.000+08:002015-02-02T17:46:49.587+08:00Something old and something new
Wow, time does fly. I never realized my last post was so long ago.
I'm still deeply mired in this corporate set-up I entered a couple of years ago. It's still tiring and it leaves me very little time to do the things I like, but I am getting used to it. Also my baby girl is now a little girl and doesn't require me to be at her beck and call all the time, you now, to survive :)
With the Janellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05196167452204951169noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846516460050935130.post-76862064393130144092014-05-27T16:19:00.000+08:002014-05-27T16:19:29.297+08:00Jumping on the bandwagon
So I did that and now, I'm currently hooked on the Rainbow Loom (no pun intended!)
I know, I know... it's a little late since this has been around since last year and I actually saw this at the mall last December and ignored it. Now, it's popularity is gaining traction and it's hitting Manila like a heat wave in summer.
It has rekindled my interest in jewelry-making.

Last February, we had the opportunity to visit my daughter's pre-school. And posted in her nursery classroom's wall...
As part of one of their lessons, the kids in my daughter's class, aged 3-4 years old, were asked about their concept of love... what do they think it means, who do they love, how do you show someone you love them. Amidst all the other kids usual answers of hugs and kisses Janellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05196167452204951169noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846516460050935130.post-13354476926195760912014-02-13T18:00:00.000+08:002014-02-13T18:00:07.577+08:00Tatty Teddy & My Blue Nose FriendsHello, my name is Janelle and I'm addicted to flocked toys.
They are so cute and soft, I can't help myself.
Here is another line I started collecting accidentally.
There are around 30 characters to collect, I think. Plus a few houses. I only have 21 characters so far, a couple of the accessory sets, no structures/houses. On one of my previous posts, I mistakenly identified some characters I recently acquired as being part of Ban Dai's Maple Town line. Upon closer inspection of their packaging however, I found out that they are part of Primtown, a line of "candy" toys released by Ban Dai in 2002.
There were 16 characters initially released and another 12 were released after that. A few weeks ago, I was scouring ebay.co.uk for some Sylvanian Families deals and I keep coming across descriptions like "Sylvanian Families/Forest Families". I got curious whether the Sylvanian Families were also called "Forest Families" in another part of the world. I know they are called "Calico Critters" in the US. During my research, I learned that once upon a time, there were 3 kinds of Janellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05196167452204951169noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846516460050935130.post-25931233359877963182014-01-29T21:13:00.001+08:002014-01-29T21:13:06.741+08:00Busy Busy Busy Little CrittersOur little friends are busy preparing for the arrival of our expats. Cold weather, like we have been experiencing lately, always inspires me to crochet. Anything made with yarn is usually too hot to wear in weather like ours but it has been unusually cold lately. However, making anything for me takes time... and summer is coming. And I know that when summer comes, all thoughts of crochet usually melts with the heat. So, I focused on making small-scale stuff. And Janellehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05196167452204951169noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846516460050935130.post-7638619655593781202014-01-27T16:02:00.000+08:002014-01-27T16:02:15.043+08:00Beautiful Things from Sayuri - Part 2
The photos took a while as I discovered our DSLR is not working. *sigh* I know it probably only needs a maintenance trip to Canon but one part of me thinks I need a new camera.
Anyway, let's take a peek at my package, shall we?
Unwrapped!
A very pretty pink flower ring. My favorite in the package!
Delicate lace earrings. I love the rhinestone dangle in this one.

Last December, my blogger friend Divya celebrated her blog's 5th anniversary with giveaways. Divya is a talented jewelry designer behind Jewels of Sayuri and I have always loved visiting her blog to see the beautiful things she makes. I joined the jewelry giveaway and imagine my surprise when a few days later, I got an email from her saying I won.
