Felt Finger Puppets

Last month, one of my friends at work was telling me that her 5-month-old son got a finger puppet from a loot bag and the loves it so much. She was asking me if I knew where she can buy more finger puppets and I told her I remember seeing a set being sold at an Ikea distributor but since I have a lot of felt in my stash, I can try to make some for her.

I started searching for ideas online and I found this image:

Pattern by Floral Blossom
I followed the link to an online store that sold the patterns needed to make this but it looked like something I can make without a pattern so I didn't buy it. I drew my own patterns free hand on a piece of paper, cut them and used them as my pattern when cutting the felt. I also have no idea how to sew the pieces together using the same stitches used in my inspiration image so I used plain running stitch everywhere. And these are how mine turned out:

Yeah... I only have 4 of them so far. I was trying to make 3 sets before we had to leave for vacation to give to my baby nieces and nephews as gifts but cutting those small pieces and sewing them together was not as easy as I initially thought and I didn't have enough time so... yes, I gave them away as is, 4 pieces. I will just give the last piece um... next year :)

As you can see, free-handing the pattern was not as easy as I initially thought too. The elephant turned out smaller that the others. Maybe purchasing the patterns was a better idea after all. Would have saved me a lot of time.

I am linking to the Floral Blossom's online store for those who are interested in making these puppets. This is NOT a sponsored post by the way. I just really love her finger puppet ideas.

Whew... I haven't done this in a while but let's do this! Linking up to the following link parties:

These are really cute..they would be interesting not just to children but also to adults ;)Did you try gluing the pieces together with some clear glue or fabric glue before you stitched them? thats usually helps in making the job faster

Gorgeous finger puppets Janelle! My girls used to love playing with puppets like that when they were younger - they had quite a collection!

These are beautiful! I hope you can post the pattern too! I never tried making felt projects pa kasi I don't know where to buy felt cloths but I really really wanted to try felt crafts.
